One-Size-Fits-All Education Cannot Teach Financial Literacy

Financial literacy platforms face both content and context problems. Most deliver identical material to every user, regardless of starting knowledge, financial situation, or learning style. The outcomes are predictable: low engagement, high drop-off, and learners who consume content without changing a single behavior.

Ona set out to fix this with conversational, adaptive AI. The product vision was an AI tutor that meets each learner where they are, responds to their specific questions, and guides them through financial journeys that adjust in real time. Building it was harder than it sounded. The tutor had to be expert enough to teach complex finance, empathetic enough to retain learners, and structured enough to produce measurable learning outcomes.

Our Approach

Build an AI Tutor, Not a Generic Chatbot

The build started with one design decision. Pinnasys worked with Ona to design an AI tutor that behaves like a strong financial coach rather than a question-and-answer bot. The system asks the right questions, remembers learner context, adjusts difficulty in real time, and steers each conversation toward a specific learning outcome.

A chatbot answers whatever you ask. A tutor follows a curriculum and knows where you are in your learning journey. We built structured learning pathways with conversational flexibility on top.
